Gaslight

The Henley Players Present “GASLIGHT” by Patrick Hamilton

Jack Manningham is slowly, deliberately driving his wife, Bella, insane. Bella Manningham is afraid that she is losing her mind, just as her mother did before her. Her own home seems to have taken on a malevolent presence, with valuable items going missing and objects being moved. Are the servants to blame, with some kind of vendetta against her? Then one evening, when her husband Jack has gone out, a stranger appears with a story to tell, and tensions build as secrets start to unravel.

This classic psychological thriller has been twice adapted as a movie and gave us the noun gaslighting.

Step into a world where every shadow whispers and every flicker of the gaslight hides a secret. Patrick Hamilton’s gripping play tells a chilling tale of manipulation, doubt, and the slow unravelling of a woman’s reality.
